about
Music started for GiLLy C in the backseat of his father’s ’84 Buick Skylar. This is where he was first exposed to the smooth funk, pop, R&B, and Hip-Hop lush and harmonic sounds. Some of his favorites that he grew up on were Tupac, Biggie, Nas, Outkast, and Jay-Z. At the age of 9, he took up playing piano, where he would become more acclimated with classical music, chords, scales, and reading music. The gateway begins! From there, he began studying music listening to oldies such as The Temptations, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, and many more. He played at different talent showcases including the Mayor’s Youth Summit, as his sister, Charlene, sang Ray Charles’ Georgia. He also competed in several beat battles with iStandard! Stay tuned with #GillyCMusic a lot is to come in the near future!
